HMD Academy of Taekwondo -- Martial Arts instruction for all ages.
Founded by Grand Master Hyong in 1980 in Champaign, Illinois, HMD Academy is celebrating 50 years of service to the Champaign and Piatt County communities. At HMD Academy, each student is treated individually, by instructors who are trained to gauge a person's progress by his or her own abilities. In this way, all students achieve according to their own scale and develop confidence as they meet their own goals.
Don Appleman has been Head Instructor at HMD Academy in Monticello since 2015, where he teaches both Taekwondo and Haidong Gumdo. He has a strong appreciation for the physical fitness benefits of martial arts training. Additionally, he sees the connection between advancement in martial arts rank and success in other areas of life, including school and work.
